Description

Mull and Iona are two of the jewels of the Hebrides, the group of islands off Scotland's west coast. The ferry from Oban, a short forty-five minutes, takes you to Craignure, from where you will begin exploring the Isle of Mull. Your guided coach tour will show you some of the best of the island's rugged beauty, passing by Ben More, an extinct volcano and Mull's highest mountain.

You will also see Loch Scridain, an incredibly beautiful sea loch that extends 15 kilometres into the island. When you reach the tiny fishing village of Fionnphort, you will board the ferry to Iona.

Iona was the point from which Saint Columba started the Christianisation of Scotland in the 6th century. Arriving from Ireland, he founded a monastery here, which remained active for nearly a thousand years, until the Scottish reformation in the 16th century. With two hours to explore Iona, you will have time to visit the ruins of the old abbey and Benedictine nunnery and Reilig Òdhrain, an ancient graveyard that is the final resting place for seven Scottish kings. Finally, you will retrace your steps back to Oban, again able to enjoy the magnificent countryside from the comfort of your coach.
