The spectacular scenery of the Scottish Highlands really has to be seen to be believed. Rivers, valleys, mountains, crags. Beautiful villages and spectacular lochs. The Highlands really has it all. On our day trip from Glasgow, you will see it all, ending up at the truly immense Loch Ness and a chance to see Nessie herself.
After your coach leaves Glasgow, you will head north through the epic landscapes of Rob Roy Country, where the legendary outlaw plied his trade in the early 18th century. Your first stop is at Glencoe, the sight of the infamous 1692 Massacre of Glencoe. Despite its grisly history, it is a beautiful place to stop and enjoy a coffee and the wonderful views of the surrounding glen and Loch Leven.
Then, it’s back on the coach to head for Spean Bridge. In the shadow of Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain, Spean Bridge is a picturesque village known as “the crossroads of the Highlands” and famous for its Commando Memorial. Then, it’s time for the last part of the journey towards Loch Ness, travelling alongside the Caledonian Canal to Drumnadrochit, on the western shore of the loch.
Here, you will have time to explore the enchanting village of Drumnadrochit or to visit Urquhart Castle and take a short cruise on the loch itself. This highly recommended option can be added to your tour on the coach for an additional fee.
Finally, it’s time to head back to Glasgow, passing Inverness and historic Stirling on the way.
