From European adventures to tropical escapes, we’ve got you covered. In this post, we’ll take you on a journey to the top eight spring holiday destinations. So, pack your bags and get ready to be inspired!

1. Berlin

Brandenburg Gate with beautiful cherry blossoms - one of the best spring holiday destinations.

Berlin comes alive in the spring. It is one of our absolute favourite spring holiday destinations in Europe. Why is it particularly pleasant in spring? The cherry blossoms! These dainty flowers paint the whole city in delicate shades of pink and white.

You’d be forgiven for thinking you’d accidentally got off the plane in Tokyo! In fact, many of these exotic trees were a gift from Japan. A Japanese TV station organised a campaign to donate 10,000 of them to Germany to celebrate the fall of the Berlin Wall.

So, what can you do to make the most of Berlin’s loveliest season? Make sure you meander through Tiergarten Park and see the sea of candy-floss-coloured cherry blossoms. We also recommend exploring Berlin by open-top bus – take a ride through the city and get the lay of the land with the wind in your hair.

And don’t miss the sparkling Spree in spring! Taking a river cruise on the Spree is wonderful at any time of the year, but in spring, it’s a rejuvenating experience! And that’s what spring is all about.

2. London

A group of friends toasting at a pub garden in London.

When it comes to spring, London knows how to put on a show. Grey winter days fade away, to be replaced by blue skies. Flowers bloom, and the city bursts into life. All this makes London one of our top spring holiday destinations.

From cherry blossoms in Kew Gardens to vibrant flower markets on Columbia Road, you’ll find yourself surrounded by eye-catching floral displays all over the city. You’ll never be short of something to do in London.

How about taking a relaxing boat ride along the Thames to admire the city’s famous landmarks from the water? Or supping a pint and enjoying a plate of fish and chips in one of London’s much-beloved pub beer gardens? Another option is exploring one of London’s multitudes of brilliant museums and art galleries.

3. Montreal

Old Port is one of the most touristy areas in Montreal and is lovely in the spring.

Montreal is a spring destination with a French twist. This fun, youthful Canadian city is known for its delicious cuisine and eclectic architecture.

As the cold winter months give way to milder temperatures, there’s plenty of outdoor fun to be had. Wander through the historic Old Port and soak in the atmosphere. Discover the charming streets of Old Montréal.

And don’t forget to try some poutine, a classic Canadian dish of French fries, cheese curds and gravy. The diet starts tomorrow – pass us the poutine!

4. Amsterdam

Arthur's seat mountain in Edinburgh, Scotland, one of the best free things to do in Edinburgh.

And next on our list of top spring holiday destinations? Amsterdam! The characterful Dutch city has bags of charisma year-round. But, as spring fever takes hold in Holland, the city really comes into its own. It transforms into a floral paradise as millions of tulip bulbs burst forth.

The world-famous Keukenhof Gardens is one of the best places to visit in Amsterdam in the spring. Expect to see bright displays of tulips, daffodils and hyacinths.

If you’re a fan of bright colours, try to get to Amsterdam for King’s Day. On 27th April every year, this citywide party paints the town orange! There’s no better way to welcome spring in Amsterdam! Get your (orange) glad rags on and get ready to party with the Dutch, with free events along the canals and all over the city!

And the best way to see Amsterdam’s canals is, unsurprisingly, on a boat! You can even get a hop-on hop-off boat and bus ticket that allows you to get on and off the boat as you float along the canal!

5. Porto

Picturesque, colourful view of Porto’s old town with the Ponte Dom Luis bridge over the Douro river. One of our top 8 spring holiday destinations.

Porto, Portugal’s colourful coastal city, is the ideal spring escape. As this pretty city awakens from its wintry slumber, both locals and tourists spill out onto the sunny streets in the many pavement bars and cafes.

With its mild climate and blue skies, it’s no wonder that Porto is one of the best spring sun destinations. Its picturesque waterfront is the ideal place for a leisurely stroll. And don’t forget a visit to the Ribeira district, with its narrow alleyways and brightly coloured houses.

In fact, a great way to combine the two is by taking a 6 Bridges cruise. You get magnificent views of Ribeira as you sail along the beautiful Douro River and under Porto’s six iconic bridges. What better way to enjoy a lovely spring day?

When in Porto, do as the “Tripeiros” (people from Porto). A spot of port wine tasting on a spring day is just the ticket. This scrumptiously sweet fortified wine was named after the city, so it’d be rude not to indulge in a couple of glasses while you’re there. Cheers to spring in Porto!

6. Mexico City

A view of Mexico City in the springtime.

Now, enough with the port – how about some tequila? If you fancy a spicy spring destination that’s bursting with culture and flavour, Mexico City is for you! The mammoth Mexican metropolis is home to ancient ruins, bustling markets and zesty street food.

So, what is there to do in Mexico City in the springtime? First off, make sure you put on your comfiest walking shoes to explore this huge city. Then take a walk around the serene Chapultepec Park, a vast, verdant space that blossoms in spring with violet jacaranda trees.

And if you’re a festival fan, you’ll be in luck! Spring is a time of festivals in this cultural capital. From the renowned processions of Holy Week (Semana Santa) to the lively latin music extravaganza, Vive Latino in March, there’s something for everyone.

7. Cape Town

A scenic view of Table Mountain in Cape Town with spring flowers.

As the Northern Hemisphere welcomes spring, the South bids farewell to its warm days. And where better to soak up the last bit of sun than Cape Town, the end of the earth?

The modern, multicultural South African city is one of the more original spring holiday destinations on our list. As well as being a cosmopolitan urban dwelling with a fantastic foodiie scene, it’s a haven for outdoor enthusiasts.

In the fine spring weather, you’ll be lying on idyllic beaches and splashing in natural pools at Camps Bay, as well as hiking around the breathtaking Table Mountain. And that’s all just a stone’s throw from the centre.

And the best way to see all these top Cape Town sights and more is on a hop-on hop-off bus! Feel the fresh sea breeze and the spring sunshine on the top deck of the bus as you take in incredible views of Cape Town’s most impressive sights.

8. Cairo

A view of Cairo and the river in springtime.

If you’re looking for a spring holiday destination that combines history, culture and great weather, you can end your search right now. Cairo is the place for you.

Leave a space on your itinerary for the remarkable Pyramids of Giza to marvel at the engineering masterpiece that has stood the test of time. Window shop at the buzzing Khan El Khalili bazaar and haggle for souvenirs. You’ll also be able to try yummy authentic Egyptian fare, from koshari to falafel.

All this with fewer tourists and the nice climate that spring brings!
