Description
Hop on one of our famous big red buses and get to know delightful Dublin with us! This youthful city has a long and compelling 1000 years of history. From its origins as a Viking settlement to its ubiquitous Georgian architecture to the city’s history of great literature, there is something for everyone.
So, where to start? We recommend that you hop off at the revered Trinity College Dublin to discover why Dublin has been designated a UNESCO city of literature. Walk the 65 metres of the spellbinding Long Room and marvel at its wall-to-wall shelves full of dusty, ancient tomes. At the very next stop, you can hop off to explore the impressive Dublin Castle. Yes, a castle, right in the heart of the historic centre!
After all that culture, we think you’d enjoy letting your hair down a bit, and Dublin’s pub culture is legendary. First of all, why not get acquainted with Dublin’s two most famous tipples: whiskey and Guinness? We’ll “whisk” you straight to the Irish Whiskey Museum to sample the finest local spirits and become a connoisseur. Interested in how this golden nectar is produced? Hop on and we’ll take you straight to the famous Jameson Distillery.
If you’re more of a beer buff than a liquor lover, then head to the Guinness Storehouse to learn the history of Dublin’s most iconic beverage. Our comfortable open-top bus will drop you off very near all these fantastic destinations. Now that you know all there is to know about the local libations, hop off at Temple Bar, a lively area full of pubs and bars. There’s no better place to experience Ireland’s famously great craic (fun and enjoyment) and get to know the warm and welcoming Dubliners.
Apart from chatting with the locals, you can learn about the Irish people at one of Dublin’s many diverse and engaging museums. One of the most interesting is the sobering Kilmainham Gaol Museum, a former prison in which Irish revolutionaries were held and executed. Learn the stories of the men, women and children who were imprisoned here. The aptly-named EPIC – The Irish Emigration Museum is indeed an epic experience. The twenty interactive galleries will tell you the stories of the Irish diaspora and their influence on far-flung corners of the world.
No trip to Dublin is complete without taking a boat ride on the mighty River Liffey which flows right through the city’s heart and inspired its name. The Vikings named it Dubh Linn, or “Black Pool”, a murky part of the river used to dock their ships. The river has a lot more charm nowadays than a murky puddle, and we think you’ll love gliding along on our 45-minute river cruise, relaxing and taking photos of this enchanting city.
