Description
Discover the gripping history of the Hungarian Jewish community across two world wars and the Holocaust at the Hungarian Jewish Museum and Dohány Synagogue Complex.
The Hungarian Jewish Museum is located in the historic Jewish quarter in the heart of Budapest. You´ll be taken on a poignant and educational journey as you explore the fascinating story of Hungarian Jewish heritage.
Our combination ticket gives you access to both the museum and the iconic Dohány Street Synagogue, an architectural marvel built in 1859.
During the tumultuous year of 1942, two courageous members of the museum staff took decisive action. They decided to hide a treasure trove of priceless relics in the cellar, effectively safeguarding them from harm. Today, you can see a collection of wonderful Jewish artworks, impressive artifacts and a wide range of fascinating memorabilia that commemorate the enduring spirit of the Jewish community throughout generations.
The permanent exhibition sheds light on the significance of Jewish festivals and their influence on the Jewish life cycle. With thousands of years of Jewish history awaiting your exploration, this experience is not to be missed.
