Giant's Causeway + Belfast City Day Tour from Dublin

This fun-filled day tour starts in Dublin and as you travel towards Ballycastle and the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge in Northern Ireland, your guide will tell you stories from Ireland’s long, complicated history while you enjoy views of the spectacular coastline and countryside.

Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge is 20 metres wide and 30 metres high and definitely not for the fainthearted. Apparently, it’s not uncommon for boats to have to take some who’ve crossed it back to the mainland as they’re not brave enough to make the return journey over the bridge, but we’re sure you’ll be fine! The bridge was first built by salmon fishermen over two hundred years ago and the (safer) modern version is crossed by as many as a quarter of a million pairs of feet each year.

Once back in the safety of the bus, it’s onward to the Giant’s Causeway, which is Ireland’s greatest natural wonder. The Causeway, made up of 40,000 basalt columns, takes its name from the legend that it was built by Irish giant Fionn mac Cumhaill to allow him to cross the open sea to Scotland to fight a rival Scottish giant. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a place of incredible beauty and you’ll have time to sit on the rocks and wonder at this natural marvel.

The last stop of the day is Belfast, a city which has flourished with the arrival of peace. You’ll have free time to explore the city’s centre and the option to take a black taxi tour of some of the city’s political landmarks from the time of the Troubles to see sights like the shipyard where the Titanic was built and the city’s famous Peace Walls. Then, it’s back on the bus and back to Dublin in time for dinner.
