It’s not easy to pick just three highlights, but if we have to we’re going to go for the three we list here. Ask us again tomorrow though and we might choose a different three. First up, we’re sure you’ll love the incredible view from Pau da Bandeira where you'll be able to see both the beach and the Old Town. Make sure you remember to take your camera. Praia dos Salgados is one of the most popular beaches in Albufeira. Hop off there and you’ll soon understand why. If you want a relaxing break, soaking up the sunshine and reading your favourite book then it's the place to go. Last but not least, hop off at the Marina de Albufeira. There are lots of things to do here, but our favourite activity is sitting outside a bar and eating some perfectly grilled fish.

When you’re in the Algarve, you have to treat yourself to a cataplana, which like casserole takes its name from the pot it’s cooked in. A cataplana is a clam-shaped pot made of metal that is used to cook the best of the Algarve’s local produce, which means that it typically includes lots of delicious fresh fish and shellfish, with onions, tomatoes, pepper, wine and herbs. Done right it’s going to be among the best things you’ll ever eat. And remember, a cataplana normally is made for at least two people. Try and eat one on your own and you’ll need help getting home! If you do need any help finishing one off, maybe seek out Mr No Ears, a local stray cat who is something of an internet celebrity.
