Description
Built for the 2012 London Olympics and Paralympics, the ArcelorMittal Orbit is the tallest sculpture in the country. From its 80-metre-high viewing platform, you can enjoy panoramic views of up to 20 miles out over the sprawling city below you.
Once you're at the top, you can choose your way back down. You can either choose the stairs or the elevator or, if you’re feeling brave, The Slide, which snakes down around the sides of the sculpture and definitely provides the most thrillingly twisting descent! Why not try it? It’ll be the most exhilarating 40 seconds of your life!
The ArcelorMittal Orbit was designed by artist Anish Kapoor and engineer Cecil Balmond. Conceived as a lasting monument to the 2012 Olympics, it stands proudly over the East London skyline. The Slide, designed by German artist Carsten Höller, was added to the tower in 2016 and Londoners and visitors alike have been enjoying this tremendous experience ever since.
