Have a whale of a day with this fantastic combination tour. Set out to sea in search of whales in their natural habitat. The most commonly spotted species are humpback whales, which can be up to 16 metres long, and minke whales, plus there’s also a good chance that you’ll see dolphins and porpoises at play. Learn all about the species which live below the waves from an expert guide, who'll also be able to tell you about the various seabirds that you’ll see on the waters of Faxaflói, the bay that Reykjavik sits on.

Back on dry land, you'll discover the best of Reykjavik, including the unique Hallgrímskirkja church. This church has become perhaps the city’s defining landmark, as it looks more like something from a science fiction movie than a traditional church. Another highlight is Höfði, a house that was prefabricated in Denmark but assembled in Reykjavik. The building has seen many people walk through its doors, though it's undoubtedley best-known as the site of the 1986 Reykjavik Summit, where Reagan and Gorbachev took the first tentative steps that led to the ending of the Cold War.

You’ll also visit Sólfarið, the Sun Voyager, a spectacular sculpture on the Reykjavik shoreline; the harbour; Bessastaðir, the official residence of Iceland’s president; and Hafnarfjörður, a small town to the south of Reykjavik. The last stop is at Harpa, the stunning glass-fronted concert hall that overlooks Faxa Bay. All of this still in the company of your expert local guide. It’s a day you really won’t forget.
