Our favorite wat in Bangkok has to be Wat Pho. Not least of all because it’s home to the extraordinary Reclining Buddha, Thailand’s largest at 46 metres long. Aside from Wat Pho’s most famous relaxed resident, its gleaming golden temples are truly impressive; make sure you have plenty of time to wander, meditate and appreciate.
The Grand Palace was built as a royal residence. The family no longer lives there, meaning more time for us visitors to admire the astonishing palace complex. Even more spectacular is Wat Phra Kaew, next door. It’s cliché to say that a building is breath taking, but Wat Phra Kaew really will leave you breathless. Make time to marvel at its curvaceous, golden temples, precious mini-Emerald Buddha and the many Ramakian murals.
